Hello! mY name is renee.

I am a Kindergarten teacher, working in a title 1 school and I’m absolutely thrilled about the diverse student community I get to teach. With 6 years of experience in Kindergarten and 3 years in 1st grade before that, I can confidently say that my heart truly belongs in the primary grades! ♥

Becoming a teacher was a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I used to force my younger brother to play “school”, even though he didn’t want to. I planned “field trips” in the backyard and “lunch” sessions in the kitchen. Even back then, I created worksheets, tests and report cards for him on our very first ’95 Apple Macintosh computer. Now, here I am living my 5-year-old dream: teaching AND creating educational resources!

As reflected in my name, Primary Island, I’m all about bright colors and beach vibes, which started way back when I was a 90’s child, obsessed with Lisa Frank and her colorful school supplies. My classroom theme is and has always been a tropical rainbow beach theme (although it has slowly evolved along the way!)

I am a dog mom to a frenchie named Vuk (pronounced v-oo-k). A huge personality condensed into a small solid body, he is lovable, spoiled, stubborn, and feisty all at the same time. He lives up to his name’s origin- Vuk means “wolf” in Serbian.
